Tax residency in Mayotte
Mayotte forms part of France for personal income tax purposes, and individual residence is determined on a calendar-year basis under Article 4 B of the French General Tax Code. An individual is regarded as resident if any one of the following is met: their home (foyer) or principal place of abode is in France (including Mayotte)—the principal place of abode is assessed by habitual presence, with presence in France for more than 183 days in the year, or for a longer period than in any other single country, commonly used as indicators; their principal professional activity is exercised in France (ancillary activities excluded); or their center of economic interests is in France (for example, main investments, business management, or principal income sources). Presence and ties in Mayotte are treated as presence and ties in France, and satisfying any one test is sufficient to establish residence.
