Tax residency in Angola
For individuals, Angola applies residence criteria under the General Tax Code. An individual is treated as resident for a given calendar year if any of the following conditions is met: physical presence in Angola for more than 183 days, consecutive or not, during any rolling 12‑month period that begins or ends in that year; or, as at 31 December of that year, having in Angola a dwelling available and maintained under conditions indicating an intention to keep and occupy it as a habitual residence (a permanent home). An individual who satisfies neither condition is treated as nonresident for that year. Where an applicable double tax treaty applies and a person is considered resident in both Angola and another jurisdiction, residence may be determined by treaty tie‑breaker rules (permanent home, centre of vital interests, habitual abode, and, if necessary, nationality or mutual agreement).
