Active tracking is split into two forms of tracking, active itinerary tracking and automated tracking. These forms of tracking are more accurate and
complete than passive tracking. We provide both forms of active tracking within our platform.
Active itinerary tracking takes a trip and manages and monitors it until it has been completed. An hour or so before departure the system sends a travel confirmation
request to the traveller, asking them to confirm departure. The request is sent by email, SMS and/or a voice call. With an SMS the traveller sends a response back, with the email
the traveller clicks a link and on the call the traveller follows the instructions. Travellers can confirm departure, deviate or report a delay. The response is fed back into
Voyage Manager, and the trip details are updated. A similar process happens upon arrival, requesting an arrival confirmation. Failure to notify of arrival within a set
timeframe will activate an arrival failure notification which is sent to administrators. The active itinerary tracking provides valuable information to the platform and
Automated tracking takes the itinerary tracking to a new level, by incorporating location data. Using location tracking on smart phones, tracking devices or satellite phones
Voyage Manager can automatically confirm arrival, using virtual temporal geofences around the destinations. It also provides a trail of where the traveller has been, which
overlays with the itinerary data, to enhance the tracking accuracy.
